Briefly I have watched many of your fire starting vids. Here are some take a ways. Magnesium burns super hot and is fairly easy to light. But burns itself out almost too quickly (unless you use a big pile). Duct tape burns hot and long but is very hard to ignite. What would you think of a plastic match safe full of magnesium shavings with a couple of wraps of duct tape around it. Tare off a strip of the tape place it sticky side up. Then dump a small pile of magnesium on it for your fire starter. If you wanted to carry an emergency ferro rod one of those made to replace the tooth pick in a Victorinox knife would fit in the match safe or sleeved under the tape as well. This would seem to be fairly compact and have sufficient material start several fires. Also thought about sealing a line of magnesium shavings inside an ink pen size stick made of duct tape. Cut off a piece, silt the tape to expose the magnesium to use.
